The House
We call this house Germantown, simply because it's on Germantown road. But Germantown is not only a special home, Germantown Road is a pretty special road. It feels and looks like part country lane, part mountain road, and yet it bridges the business community of Hillsboro with Downtown Portland and the river road into Portland's heart. At one end of Germantown is the St. Johns Bridge and Route 30, on the other is Cornelius Pass Road leading directly to companies like Intel and Nike.
Most of the houses in this area have limited views, because there are so many mature Douglas Firs in the area. But our land was logged before we bought it, and then landscaped to both compliment the area and maintain the view. The result is a stunning view that at times looks like the vista from an Italian hill town, or a mountain retreat. And yet it is minutes from downtown Portland and even closer to Hillsboro.
